COID-19 PSA – CAUTION REGARDING HAND SANITIZERS:

Did you know that Hand Sanitizers are highly flammable?  They are!

With hand sanitizer now a common part of people’s hand hygiene routine due to the coronavirus, fire experts are warning that hand sanitizer is flammable.

It is important to be cautious when using hand sanitizers: make sure that your hands are 100% dry BEFORE you ignite or are around an open flame: a lighter to ignite candles, to smoke, to start a grill or working with any type of flame.  If your hands are still moist from the hand sanitizer they can ignite instantly causing severe burns to you or anyone around you.  Hand Sanitizers have alcohol as a main ingredient which makes them a Class 1 flammable liquid, which means that at room temperature, it is readily ignitable when exposed to a flame.
